364 Days To Go!

Jay and Megan met two nights at a bar. While these were the only two times that Megan had gone out in a few months, Jay had gone out many time in that time span. She thought that it was destiny meeting that second time because it was her sign that God wanted Jay in her life.

Megan had put her number in Jay’s phone and completely forgot Jay’s name. So when Jay finally planned to take Megan on a date, she had to tell her family that a guy she met was taking her out to dinner and that she didn’t know his name. Jay had come over one night before the date to hang out after Megan finished work and Megan confessed to not knowing Jay’s name but that she knew it started with the letter “J”. This turned into a 30 minute game of Jay making Megan guess the “J” names that she could think of. In the end, Jay told Megan that her favorite book, The Great Gatsby, had a character that shared the same name.

At this point, Megan had thought that this date was going to be cancelled. It was not. Luckily for Jay, their first date was the same day that his favorite Green Bay legend, Doug Gottlieb, would be at Blu. Jay spent the entire date telling Megan about the infamous credit card thief and Green Bay basketball coach. A month later, Jay had asked Megan to officially be his girlfriend after a long night out at the bar, where his friend consistently called Megan “the girlfriend”, prior to Jay asking.

Life moved quickly from there. Jay was thrown in head first to meeting the family over Mother's Day breakfast. Megan provided an unhelpful family tree and zero introductions. His first visit to the family lake house, he arrived before anyone else with the instructions to mow the lawn. Summer was spent with Jay learning to water skiing and pulling Megan's fish off the hook.

Fall was highlighted by the couples first trip. A weekend journey to watch Doug Gottlieb's Phoenix get blown out by 43 point to Jay's hometown Jayhawks. The couple will never forget the one point lead the Phoenix acquired after the second possession of the game.

Fall turned to winter and uncountable number 32oz mixers were drank at Replay's Sport Bar and Grill (Sports Bar and Grill). Jay's work took him to Asia in February. Despite the time difference the couple found time to talk everyday. It was during this time that Jay made the decision Megan was the one to marry.

Jay's plot to purchase the ring was hatched in March. It took until early May for enough excuses to be alone near the family jeweler were found. After another work trip overseas with the ring quietly tucked away, Jay decided he couldn't wait any longer.

It was the Saturday following his return when he said today was the day. Megan had other ideas. Jay tried everything he could to get Megan out of bed, dressed, and sit out on the family dock with him. Megan pulled out every trick in the book to stay in bed, find other things to do, and stay away from the water.

Jay had to give up on the day and after a slow start on Sunday, deciding to wait another weekend. During a walk to the boat launch, which is a staple event for the couple, Megan mentioned being excited to get married. Realizing the day wasn't lost yet, Jay hurried to grab the ring, talked Megan into sitting on the dock and finally got to propose.
